The Division of Pediatric Surgery is based at Sparrow Hospital's Regional Children's Center, which is the sole subspecialty pediatric referral center in mid-Michigan as well as a Level 1 Trauma Center. The hospital has a 44-bed pediatric wing plus a 12-bed PICU.  There is also a state-of-the-art, modern, 33-bed, level III Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (RNICU), for infants requiring acute and complex intervention. In January 2008, Sparrow Hospital opened the new Granger Pediatric Emergency Department (ED), the first facility of its kind in the mid-Michigan region. This is a full-service, around-the-clock ED equipped with technology and furnishings designed specifically for the care and comfort of children, ages birth to 18 years. Sparrow Hospital also offers a fully and dually accredited pediatric residency program sponsored by the Pediatric Departments of MSU’s Colleges of Human Medicine and Osteopathic Medicine.  In addition, there is a fellowship-training program in Neonatal Medicine, full complement of pediatric subspecialty services and a Surgery residency with a Critical Care fellowship.

Lansing is Michigan’s State Capitol, with a population of 250,000.  Lansing and the surrounding area have several school systems that consistently exceed averages for the State’s MEAP scores.  For the sports enthusiast, there are 38 golf courses in the Lansing area and several lakes for boating and fishing. Approximately an hour and 15-minute drive from Lansing are several professional sports teams including the Detroit Lions, Red Wings, Pistons and 2006 American League Champion Tigers. The ideal candidate must be Board Certified/Board eligible in Pediatric Surgery and have a strong interest/track record in academics. This is a full time Health Profession track position with rank commensurate with academic qualifications and experience. It is expected that the successful candidate will be assigned the rank of assistant or associate professor.  Salary will be commensurate with experience and assigned rank.
