Vice-President, Quality and Patient Safety

The Vice-President, Quality and Patient Safety supports the membership hospitals endeavors to improve patient safety and hospital quality initiatives.  The objectives of the role include:

  • Establish a reputation as a passionate and credible champion of quality and patient safety.
  • Lead CHA’s statewide initiative to pursue the elimination of preventable harm by implementing high reliability organization techniques.
  • Analyze CHA’s statewide performance on quality and patient safety measures to identify opportunities for quality improvement.
  • Analyze the data to recognize patterns and identify initiatives that respond; and identify member organizations that need individual assistance.
  • Guide the organization and its members to reach beyond the required and “set the bar” for others to follow.
  • Establish short and long-term direction for CHA’s Q&PS efforts.
  • Implement a comprehensive patient safety reporting system for internal (members only) use.
  • Focus on healthcare reform and how CHA responds to and gets ahead of the quality components. 
  • Work closely with Committee on Patient Care quality and its subcommittees to improve consumer perception of quality of care in CT hospitals. 

Job Requirements

A Medical Degree is required; a Masters degree in healthcare administration, public health, business or another related field is preferred.  At least ten years of progressive responsibility to provide leadership and management in complex healthcare provider settings.  A progressive knowledge of healthcare quality and performance improvement paradigms, statistics and compliance with regulatory stakeholders (JCAHO, CMS etc).  A successful candidate will be skilled in effective communication and writing skills and proficient speaking and presentation skills with multiple constituencies and communities.
