This is a newly created position with responsibilities to coordinate and direct all aspects of information technology for Beaumont hospital laboratories.  Responsibilities include LIS personnel administration, LIS budget, LIS strategic planning, coordinating communication efforts to all appropriate departments and vendors, and ensuring appropriate activities and assets to help drive and achieve the laboratories strategic planning goals and initiatives.

The Department:

Hospital Laboratories – Beaumont Laboratories provide laboratory testing for the diagnosis and treatment of common and rare disorders. Diagnostic testing is performed at the Royal Oak, Troy and Grosse Pointe campuses and several of the Beaumont Medical Centers. The laboratories are directed by a team of professionals including medical directors, pathologists, Ph.D.s, medical technologists, and administrative and support staff. Beaumont Laboratories provide more than 10 million results per year on blood, body fluids and tissues. All tissue specimens, including biopsies, are examined and diagnosed by highly trained board-certified pathologists. Beaumont Laboratories have exceptional expertise in tissue diagnosis, cytogenetics, molecular pathology, toxicology, flow cytometry and coagulation.

Reference Laboratory – The Beaumont Reference Laboratory (BRL) is the diagnostic reference laboratory of Beaumont Hospitals.  BRL specializes in meeting the laboratory testing needs of physicians that operate in private practice, clinics and medical centers throughout southeast Michigan and outlying areas.

Beaumont Hospitals is a three-hospital regional health care provider with 1,696 licensed beds, 18,000 employees and 3,000 physicians in Oakland, Macomb and Wayne counties. In addition to its hospitals in Grosse Pointe, Royal Oak and Troy, Beaumont is comprised of numerous community-based medical centers in Oakland, Macomb and Wayne counties, five nursing centers, a research institute, home care services and hospice.

Requirements:

Undergraduate or graduate degree in IT or Computer Science.  Proven and demonstrable experience in IT project management.  Experience in IT personnel administration.  Experience and familiarity with database administration and data extraction tools.  Familiarity with LAN and WAN infrastructure and maintenance.  Experience with laboratory and billing applications. Experience with foreign system interfaces and EMRs. Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
